OBGAC's Lake Shasta Houseboat Camp is only $299 (!) for 4 days & 3 nights of ridiculous waterfront fun, cultural appreciation & environmental stewardship - all in a multicultural camp environment!  Wooo hooooo!
I love good news!  OBGAC has 12 partial scholarships available for Houseboat Camp over Labor Day Weekend! (Big smile...teeth all showing.) The deadline to apply for the scholarship is June 30 has been extended to July 31 or until all of the spots have been taken.  This multicultural waterfront camp experience is gonna be Fun with a capital F!

Adventurers must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered: 
  • Must be a California resident.
  • Must be 11-14 years old.
  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or better (copy of most recent report card required).
  • Must provide a Letter of Recommendation from a current teacher or group leader.
  • Must remit payment for the balance of Houseboat Camp in the amount of $299 (made payable to OBG) within 5 days of scholarship acceptance.
  • Must be available for the entirety of the trip. (See trip details below.)
  • Must be interested in a multicultural camp experience.
  • Must be able to swim or at a minimum be unafraid of the water.
Should your Adventurer meet the minimum requirements, please have her write an essay about the importance of caring for the environment in 300 words or less. Essays will be judged on originality and substance.

All documents must be received by June 30, 2010 on or before July 31, 2010 in order to be considered; unless all spots are taken prior to this date.  You are encouraged to inquire. Trip details
Van departs: 4am Friday, 9/3/10 from Oakland CA
Van returns: 11:50pm Monday, 9/6/10
Those traveling from Southern California can hitch an airplane ride with Assistant Camp Director Miss Alley on Thursday evening, 9/2/10 via LAX on a Southwest flight (to be announced) and will return on Tuesday morning 9/7/10. Airfare not included. Hotel, however, is on us!

Kindly make note: OBGAC is not a special needs camp program and therefore is unable to accept Adventurers with severe behavioral and/or physical challenges. OBGAC has a Zero Tolerance Bullying policy. Any Adventurers engaged in bullying will be sent home at their parents’ expense. There are no exceptions.
